Choosing The Best Bracelets And Cuffs For Fall And Winter

Fashion is an ever-changing and evolving beast, and getting a handle on its behavior can sometimes be hard to do. However, if you watch it carefully you can still make some good decisions about your own style in keeping with the latest trends. As a for instance, choosing the proper cuff or bracelet for Winter and Fall is easy if you follow some simple rules.

Pay Attention to Color:

Color schemes are a huge part of any fashion design, and your accessories are no exception. For instance, Fall tends to have darker colors associated with styles with lots of Earth tones, browns, grays and blacks. So you could choose to go with a bracelet whose metal is burnished and shines, with an earth toned stone. Alternatively you could have a burnished metal, like brass or copper, that fits the theme of Earth tones, worn with a short sleeved shirt so that the contrast is between your skin and the jewelry. Winter ensembles on the other hand can be dark or light. If you're going with lighter, brighter colors then all you have to do is reverse the rules for your cuffs and bracelets. If you have a bright outfit, then a dark cuff will create contrast and make the accessory stand out a bit more.

Keep a Theme:

An outfit has a certain theme to it, and your accessories should be used to enhance that theme rather than break it. Say that you have a very formal blouse and skirt combination and you want to maintain the air of a professional with all of the accepted business class looks. The incorrect style of cuff to go with this look would be an animal print, or wider, bracer sort of cuff. These broad pieces of jewelry would detract from the formal appearance and create the wrong sort of contract, undermining the overall theme. However, a slender bracelet that's understated in color and tone, or an elegant watch with a simple band might be just the thing to add that final touch to a business woman's suit. On the other hand, if you were going out clubbing and you wanted something more casual then simple office accessories might seem too understated to really enhance your clubbing persona. It's all a matter of theme and what you want to achieve with your particular look.

Balance and Symmetry:

Typically when you have a bracelet or a cuff, you should only really wear one. With a few exceptions, wearing too much jewelry can make you look eccentric, strange or like you're trying too hard. With the exception perhaps of Wonder Woman, no one needs to have two cuffs, or a bracelet on each wrist. Normally symmetry is a good thing, but one bracelet should be enough for any social occasion. However, if you have slender bracelets you can wear two on one wrist for an interesting, asymmetrical effect. Cuffs and bracelets are perhaps the only area of fashion where it is not only accepted, but nearly required, for you to keep the accessorizing to a minimum of one side of your body. As a final note, a cuff on one wrist and a watch on the other doesn't really work, but a cuff with a watch in it is practical and stylish.
